AN AIR ambulance landed near a beach after a woman suffered a medical emergency.

West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team, were called to Eype beach on Monday afternoon (July 5) at 3.44pm to reports of a 63-year-old woman who was having a medical emergency on the beach.

South Western Ambulance Service Trust also sent an ambulance and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was also en-route.

Coastguard owners, along with their equipment and rescue vehicle, immediately headed for Eype and worked with the paramedics to locate the casualty, and care was provided by the ambulance crew.

The air ambulance was not required and the woman was assisted from the beach and back to the waiting ambulance at the Eype car park.

A spokesman for West Bay Coastguard added: "The team was then stood down to return to the station. We wish the casualty a full and speedy recovery.

"Have a great time on the coast this Summer. But If you find yourself in difficulty, or if you see something that gives you cause for concern then do not hesitate.

"Dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
