OFFICERS investigating a road traffic collision in Lyme Regis are renewing their appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward after a man who sustained life-threatening injuries has sadly died.
At 4.38pm on Tuesday June 29, Dorset Police was called to reports of a road traffic collision on Broad Street involving a grey Ford Fiesta and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian – a man aged in his 80s from Bristol – sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. He died in the early hours of Sunday July 4.
The driver of the Fiesta – a woman aged in her 70s from Birmingham – was not physically injured, but was left shaken.
Police Constable Leanne Steedman, of the traffic unit, said: "Very sadly, the injured pedestrian has now died and my thoughts are with his family and friends.
“Our investigation continues and I'm still urging anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken with police to please come forward.
“The Fiesta was leaving the Broad Street short stay car park when the collision occurred. I am aware that this road was really busy at the time and I am sure that someone would have witnessed what happened.
“I would also ask any motorists who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to please check their dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email at scit@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting incident number 29:522.
