Vote in the Dorset Echo Father's Day competition

We invited you to show us how wonderful your fathers are by submitting images of you and your dad or an image of him with his children for the chance to win a £50 voucher.

As you can see below, the pictures have been submitted and now it's over to the readers to tell us what their favourite image is to pick our winner.

Simply fill in the form in yesterday's Dorset Echo and send it to us before the closing date of July 3.

1.) Jessica Hennessey of Weymouth nominates her dad Shaun

She says: "My dad is truly one in a million. My dad has always put everyone else before himself, he helped out at Weymouth football club for many many years along side Weymouth rotary club as well as volunteering to feed the homeless in Weymouth. My dad has never been a person to judge a book by its cover and will always give people countless chances even when he knows he’s going to end up getting messed around in the long run.

"I think my dad deserves this because he truly is one in a million. My dad always put everyone before himself, he never expects anything in return for helping others into respect."

2.) Emma Mengi of Dorchester nominates her dad Steven Flew

She said: "Our dad isn’t is a just a dad, he's a father in-law, son in-law, son and friend. He doesn’t need a reason to win the voucher, he is just a great dad and shouldn’t stop doing what he does and for being the rock of our family with our mum right by his side. We love you dad."

3.) Katie McFarlane of Weymouth nominates her dad Steve McFarlane

She said: "He is just so selfless. caring, hardworking, resilient, our family would be completely lost without him and everything he does for us all, he is such an inspiration to me and I am just so eternally grateful to him for everything he does.

"In February 2020, my dad's lifelong dream came to fruition when he purchased and took over an established printing business in Blandford. 1 month later, coronavirus had swept across the country and forced us all into lockdown. Barely having time to learn the workings of his new business and was completely thrown in at the deep end. Despite this, my dad worked tirelessly every single day on not only making his new business grow and thrive during the pandemic, but also managing to maintain his role in looking after my mother who is currently unwell, helping & supporting me (his daughter) regularly as I also suffers with several health issues, AND helping & supporting his own mother regularly, because sadly my grandad and my uncle have both died in recent years leaving my dad the only remaining close male figure my grandmother has left to rely on. 

"I am so blessed & thankful to have such an amazing and inspirational dad, and I really hope he gets chosen for this Father’s Day competition, because he truly has been a hero to our family. Thank you :)"

4.) Emily Whitehead of Weymouth nominates her husband Dale

The way he has pushed aside all his own issues to give our son the best start to life. He is starting a new college course to show our son that he will do anything to provide for him.

5.) Tilly, aged 5, of Weymouth nominates her dad Tom Robbs

"He gives me the best snuggles and makes me laugh alot even when I'm sad.

"He works very hard and is away a lot but facetimes me everyday when he comes home at the weekends.. we have so much fun.
"He will probably spend the money on coffee because he's tired and snores a lot."

6.) Rebecca Morgan from Weymouth nominates the late Joe Morgan, pictured here with his son Harley and also dad to Elsie and Arthur.

She said: “Joe sadly passed away in 2018. He was extremely poorly with cancer but remained an amazing hands-on dad. I think Joe would love the children to have £50 to share as a gift from him."

7.) Melissa Scannell-Burns of Weymouth nominates her dad Kevin

"He has always been there, in the middle of the night when i needed to take my child to a&e or if i needed someone to walk me home at night. He always answered the phone for advice at 3am, on more than one occasion been known to walk to my home to help me if i have needed it and looked after my kids when my hubby and i was at work taking them to school and giving them dinner after. He even held my hand when my daughter arrived faster than expected and was born in the bathtub. There is no dad like my dad."

8.) Christabelle West of Weymouth nominates her dad Malcolm

"He is kind, funny, plays with me, helps me improve at cricket and best of all, he loves me very much.

"He deserves to win the voucher because he spends a lot of time looking after me and doesn't have as much time as he would like in the garden. If he won the voucher, it would be a thank you to him for looking after me so well and it would give him something to spend on himself or on the garden."

9.) Jo Nichols of Weymouth nominates her husband Robin

"For being such a brilliant dad to both our girls he has been so supportive throughout and with the pandemic with looking after me while pregnant and our daughter before our other little girl was born in December which was hard with being furloughed, moving house and him starting a new career. I so am proud of the father he is to his children; he is kind and sensitive and just loves them so much.

"Because of his kind and sensitive nature he always puts everyone else before himself especially his children who mean the world to him."

"He is brilliant. He has a passion for Photography so I would love him to have this to buy something new for his collection."

11.) Anthony of Weymouth nominates Dean Spearing

"A man who always shows unconditional love throughout the ups and downs and never goes against any decisions made by any of the children. 
He’s supportive of any action made by any of the children
Has an massive effect on our day to day life by showing love, care and giving advice about anything and everything.
Supportive home schooling throughout the pandemic period this year and last year too."

12.) Amelia Newport of Beaminster nominates her husband Martin

"Everyone says they have the best dad but my children really do! From the first hospital appointment to smashing slip and slide and our daughters 9th birthday last month.
He is our strength, my support, and so much fun.
He works very hard caring for other people but when he comes home he doesn't stop caring for us all. 
He loves watching and playing football with our 2 year old son, but also makes sure he is at every training and majorette competition for our 2 girls.
He also raised money for clapa (cleft lip and palate association) by having his legs waxed and helping me run a full day of fun , for a fun day to celebrate our beautiful daughters smile. Being a dad has had many ups, but we have also had some really low times having a poorly child, but I definitely know I couldn't of done it without him. He truly is the world's BEST DAD!!!

"To start with he doesn't know i have entered him in to the competition so if he won he would be thrilled!
Secondly I know he is my husband but he never gets the credit he deserves everyone needs to know he is the best dad, winning the voucher would just be a bonus."

13.) Lillie Baker of Maiden Newton nominates her dad Andrew

"My dad is the best at cuddles and is so silly. He plays and reads to me every night and helps me with my school work.

"Daddy worked through the lockdown but had days off so that mum could go to work when she needed to. He is always there for me and keeps me safe. And did I say he is very silly?"
