A NEW coffee shop has opened in Weymouth's town centre, with a new American-style sister restaurant soon to follow suit - and with it around 20 jobs.
Jobs have been created with the opening of Funkin Desserts, in St Thomas Street, which bosses say provides both a personal touch and 'something different'.

The dynamic duo behind the 'Funkin' venture, Andy Phillips and Aaron Bradder, said the new restaurant, also in St Thomas Street, is set to 'hopefully' open on Sunday, June 13.
Spearheading the Funkin Desserts coffee shop, Mr Phillips said: "All of our desserts are sourced locally including our pasties, which come from Punch & Judy Bakery in Bridport.

"At the coffee shop we're set to create another five jobs over the summer.
"All of our packaging is bio-degradable.
"We're passionate, upbeat and we want to provide something different."
Visiting the coffee shop, Margaret Holmes, said: "The reason my friends and I came into the shop was because Andy said hello to us - he was so polite.
"It makes all the difference when a shop owner gives the time of day."
Funkin Desserts is soon to be followed with the opening of a Funkin Fries restaurant. The first Funkin Fries branch opened in South Street, Dorchester on March 26.
The Dorchester restaurant has 12 members of staff and Mr Bradder said he expects to hire more than 20 new staff for the new restaurant.
He said: "We expect to open by next Sunday at a push.
"For the Weymouth restaurant, we'll be going bigger and better than our original diner in Dorchester.
"We're looking at hiring over 20 new staff for the Weymouth restaurant - and we're currently in contact with local butchers to source our meat."

The new dine-in restaurant is based on the site of the former Emporium Tattoo Parlour.
"We're also set to provide a variety of vegan and gluten-free options at our Weymouth site, which has been left empty for around two years," said Mr Bradder.
"Our long term goal is to open a new restaurant in Bournemouth - and expand our brand further."
