RESIDENTS are being asked for their views on a series of proposals for Weymouth - including plans for a major new bridge over Weymouth Swannery.

Dorset Council is proposing the changes to make the train station and town centre more accessible to pedestrians and cyclists - who currently have to take a long route round via Westham Bridge when crossing between Weymouth Way/Westham and the town centre.

Currently, there is no safe direct crossing on the Swannery Bridge for people walking and cycling between Southill, Westham, Rodwell Trail and the train station off King Street.

As reported, the council is proposing a new 80 metre long pedestrian and cycling bridge be built alongside the Swannery Bridge.

The council plans to submit a bid for Government funding to finance the changes and is holding an official survey on the proposals here: www.bit.ly/3bWOgdp
