A CAFÉ owner has teamed up with the newly-revamped Dorset Museum to dish up food for customers when it reopens its doors - with its delighted owner announcing jobs are now up for grabs.

Todd Moffat, who runs Chesil Beach café alongside his partner Louise, is branching out his business to cater for Dorset Museum when it reopens to the public on May 28 after the completion of a £16.1m building project that started in October 2018.

Mr Moffat, who also runs Taste Brasserie in Dorchester, said due to the expansion he will be hiring more staff.

He said: "We're looking for five new members of staff for Chesil Beach Café, including a new apprentice chef.

"For Taste Brasserie we're looking to hire three new members of staff as well as an apprentice chef and head chef.

"We're looking to provide excellent catering for the museum to make it become a fantastic hub for the community.

"At the museum we're hiring two full-timers and an apprentice chef."

Spokesman for the museum, David Goulden said: "The new Dorset Museum Café in the historic wing of the museum is a light, modern room with soft seating and walls adorned with art.

"We're thrilled to have Todd and the team from Taste on board to run this very unique dining and socialising space. A perfect complement to the new museum experience."

The museum, formerly known as Dorset County Museum, in High West Street, was originally scheduled to reopen in September last year, but bosses were forced to push back the reopening date due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the progress of the refurbishment.

Funding for the redevelopment predominantly came from the National Lottery Heritage Fund - which donated £11.43m to the project - and additional money was raised from trusts, foundations, local authorities and individual donors.

As well as internationally significant collections of archaeology, art, literature, geology and history, the museum's galleries will include interactive displays and audio-visual presentations.

Todd and Louise Moffat took over the running of the Chesil Beach Café on Portland in February 2013.
