POLICE and paramedics were abused by a woman after they saved her life.
They were responding to reports of anti-social behaviour on Westham Bridge in Weymouth yesterday and discovered a woman who had allegedly taken an overdose.
She was saved by the swift actions of the emergency teams but abused the crews when she came round.
A spokesman for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "Officers were called to Westham Bridge due to reports of anti-social behaviour and concerns for the welfare of a female.
"On arrival officers established that a female appeared to have taken an overdose and was in need of immediate medical intervention.
"Officers administered first aid and were assisted my South West Ambulance Service when they arrived.
"Unfortunately the female involved wasn’t too happy about being administered a drug that reversed the effects of the substances she had likely taken and was verbally abusive to officers and ambulance staff when she came round.
"She was arrested for breaching her criminal behaviour order and causing damage to the ambulance.
"Thank you for everyone’s patience whilst we closed the bridge to deal with this case, we are aware on repeat reports of ASB at this location and will continue to monitor.
"Abuse towards officers and SWAST staff will not be tolerated and we will take robust action."
