FEWER than 20 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Dorset over the last 24 hours.

Data released by the Government show 17 cases were recorded in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Friday, April 30.

Six people across the Dorset Council area tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 11,884 cases in this area.

In the seven days leading up to Sunday, April 25, the latest seven-day rolling period, the rolling rate stood at 9.8 per 100,000 after 37 cases.

The Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council area has recorded 11 new cases over the same time period, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 25,338.

55 cases were confirmed in BCP Council area within the seven days leading up to Sunday, April 25, giving a rolling infection rate of 13.4 per 100,000.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 37,222 confirmed cases of coronavirus across Dorset.

The latest figures are a slight decrease on the number of confirmed cases on Thursday, April 29 when 19 positive tests were reported.
