A PRIMARY school is hosting a three-day event to encourage more pupils to cycle to school.
Piddle Valley CE First School near Dorchester is organising a cycle safety event this week as part of a larger campaign to get more pupils cycling to school.
The training, called Bikeability, is a government-recognised national programme and will be held over three days, finishing on Friday April 30.

Bikeability is designed to teach children the essentials and get them road-ready over three modules. The training is aimed at years 3 and 4, and focuses on off-road training and preparation for safe on-road cycling.
The school has been actively supporting a community-led initiative to create a safe route to school in the Piddle Valley by upgrading an existing bridleway. The project, called the Piddle Path, would enable pupils at the school to walk, cycle or ride to school on the upgraded bridleway. Currently most pupils travel to school by car because the main road is dangerously busy.
The school hopes to hold further Bikeability training sessions in the future.
