DEVASTATED relatives of a woman who was tragically killed in Weymouth have paid tribute to the much-loved health care worker - who they described as 'the most amazing mother and nanny'.
Sherrie Teresa Milnes suffered multiple stab wounds and neck compression at a flat in
Ranelagh Road on April 1.
Her family have today paid tribute to the beloved mother of five - on the day of her funeral.
Ms Milnes' family said: "Sherrie Teresa Milnes was born and raised in London, by her mother and step father. She moved to Weymouth and Portland in her early 20s.
"She was the most amazing mother of five children, and a nanny to four grandchildren whom she adored.
"Sherrie’s lifelong career was as a health care assistant. She worked tirelessly in various care homes throughout Weymouth and Portland, most recently at Buxton House in Weymouth.
"Sherrie’s children have coped incredibly well in spite of the devastation that they have been put through. The way they have pulled together at this time is truly admirable. "They are each a credit to themselves and to their beautiful mum."
Sherrie's funeral was taking place today at Weymouth Crematorium.
Her family have said that anyone who would like to make a donation in her memory can donate to the Victim Support charity, which has supported the grieving family since her tragic death.
Bunches of flowers and remembrance cards were laid near to the entrance of the flat in Heron Court in the days following Ms Milnes’ death.
Dorset Police officers were called to the flat at 5.40pm on April 1 by the ambulance service but the 51-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
Later that day, Steven Anthony Doughty, aged 54, was found dead at his home in Portland. An inquest opening into his death heard he was found hanged.
Police confirmed the pair were known to each other.
Dorset Police Major Crime Investigation Team is currently conducting enquiries into both deaths.
A provisional pre inquest review for Ms Milnes has been listed for September 7, while a pre inquest review into Doughty’s death is due to take place on September 6.
