AN INJURED man has been airlifted to hospital after he suffered a fall at the coast.
Emergency services were called to East Cliff, West Bay at approximately 8.45am today after a man was found injured on the beach.
Witnesses say firefighters, police officers, ambulance crews and coastguard responded to the incident for more than two hours.
The local coastguard was called to secure a safe landing site for the air ambulance as well as keep the scene for the general public.
A spokeswoman for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance confirmed that the injured man has been airlifted to Southampton General Hospital for further medical treatment.
She said: "I can confirm that Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance attended an incident reported as an adult male who had suffered a fall in the West Bay area.
"The patient was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital by our critical care team."
Dorset Police has been approached for further comment.
