A SECTION of coastal road has been closed for workers to rebuild a slipped embankment.

A section of Burton Road, near Abbotsbury, is currently shut off to road users for safety reasons, with repair work due to start on April 6 - and will not reopen until six days later.

The road provides access to Chesil Beach in Abbotsbury.

A spokeswoman from Dorset Council said: "Work will start on April 6 while Dorset Highways rebuild a slipped embankment.

"The road was closed for safety reasons. It will reopen by April 12."

The road is shut next to the beach's main car park in Buller's Way.
