Juat over two weeks ago, the murder of Sarah Everard prompted nationwide concern for the increase in violence against women and the rise of cultural misogyny.
Shameful then that plans have been submitted for an entertainment venue in Weymouth to include ‘occasional strippers’.
Not only is the timing appalling but the concept too.
Why does a bingo venue offering live music, quiz nights and karaoke also need to include strippers?
We need to be developing a culture of respect for women and not one that continues to see them as sexual objects for profit and for men’s pleasure.
I trust Dorset Council will turn this down without hesitation.
