TWO floors above a Weymouth Maiden Street restaurant are to be converted to three flats – with the business continuing to trade.
The two storey end terrace building is within the town conservation area at 43 Maiden Street with Governors Lane car park directly behind.
Dorset Council has approved the application for the Restaurant Tuga site which allows for a new side entrance to the proposed flats but will involve little other external alterations, with replacement windows to be fitted on the first and second floors. Planning officers decided that the proposal would not be detrimental to the street scene and would not affect the conservation area.
Weymouth Town Council, which considered the application in December, decided not to object to the changes.
