THE upper floors of a Weymouth town centre business will be converted to three one-bed flats.
Dorset Council has approved the change for 94 St Mary Street which was previously used by a travel agency but is currently vacant and is being marketed for commercial use on the ground floor.
The front of the building currently has two entrances – one for the business area and the other, via a passageway, to the upper floors.
The changes approved will see the removal of an existing roller shutter door with a new, recessed door, added to allow access to the flats.
Weymouth town council did not object to the application but raised a concern about the spread of fire and means of escape in the event of an emergency and asked if this would be dealt with in the details of the plans.
