PANTO stars to their final bow on the Weymouth Pavilion stage last night as the announcement came that Dorset would be moved into Tier 3.
The theatre has been forced to postpone performances from today following the coronavirus briefing, which states that entertainment venues must close.
The latest Government announcement put Dorset into Tier 3 as of one minute past midnight from today, December 31 - meaning performances cannot take place.
The announcement was made by actor and producer Lee Redwood during yesterday's performance of 'Grown Up's Only Rapunzel.'
One audience member said: "It was quite an emotional ending as the announcement came during the performance, making it the last one."
The Pavilion management team has vowed to resume shows as soon as restrictions are lifted.
Postponed shows will take place at a later date yet to be confirmed - although it is hoped this could be during February half term or at Easter, depending on restrictions.
Ticket holders are being urged to refrain from calling the Pavilion Box Office as lines and email are "extremely busy."
"Keep hold of your tickets for now and the Box Office will be in contact with information as soon as possible," a Pavilion spokesman said.
"Stay safe everyone and we’ll see you all again soon."
