MORE than 400 new coronavirus cases have been recorded across Dorset, according to the latest government update.

The Department of Health and Social Care website shows there were 418 positive Covid-19 tests reported in the county in the 24 hours up to 3.45pm on Saturday, December 26.

In the Dorset Council area there were 127 positive tests recorded in this period, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the region since the start of the pandemic to 4,157.

In the BCP Council area there were 291 positive tests recorded. The total number of confirmed BCP cases since March is now 8,999.

In the Christmas Day update,161 coronavirus cases were recorded across Dorset.

The number of cases in the Dorset Council region over the latest rolling seven-day period is 392, with a rate of 103.6 per 100,000 people.

In the BCP are, 728 cases have been confirmed in this period, with a case rate of 184.1.
