AN INDEPENDENT Dorset brewer has secured a deal with supermarket giant Tesco to sell another of its beers in south west stores.

Family-run Hall & Woodhouse’s Twice Tangled IPA is now appearing on the shelves of Tesco stores across the region.

Twice Tangled IPA has its origins in the 1980s, taking its inspiration from the popular Tanglefoot. It is 5.2% vol and is described as being a “malty IPA with hints of lemon”.

Toby Heasman, head brewer at Blandford-based Hall & Woodhouse, said: “Twice Tangled is an outstanding beer, which is right on cue by bridging the craft market and the traditional ale market.

“It has a great refreshing hop character from the Centennial, Amarillo and WGV hops with a rich malt character from the ale, crystal and Munich malts.

“Twice Tangled has received really positive feedback from the drinkers that have sampled it, and the bottle really stands out on the shelf, reflecting the beer’s style.”

Hannah Farrington, Tesco’s local buyer for England, said she was confident that the Dorset beer will be a hit with customers.

She added: “We’re always proud to work with our local suppliers, and this new line further strengthens the range of products from Hall & Woodhouse that we can offer Tesco shoppers.”

Just announced at the 2020 World Beer Awards, Hall & Woodhouse had its best year ever, winning five awards, with Badger Twice Tangled awarded a Silver place. In addition, Badger Golden Champion received country winner and Badger Fursty Ferret, The Blandford Fly and The Cranborne Poacher all awarded Bronze in their respective categories.

Hall & Woodhouse has three other 500ml bottled beers for sale at Tesco stores – Badger Golden Champion, Badger Fursty Ferret, and Badger the Blandford Fly Ale.

The original Badger Tangle Foot is available at Tesco stores in a 4x440ml can multipack format.

Hall & Woodhouse is an independent family brewery dating from 1,777. It employs more than 200 team members at its Blandford brewery in Dorset and a further 1,500 team members across its managed house public estate.

It recently revealed it was in a strong position to ‘tough out’ a hard winter as it published accounts showing ongoing pre-tax profits of £6.9million and turnover of £5.94m.
