John Bradley (Samwell Tarly of Game of Thrones) pictured with Claire Hill of Weymouth

An encounter with a star from television fantasy series Game of Thrones left Claire Hill ‘beaming’.

Claire, of Weymouth, was delighted to meet the actor John Bradley, who plays Samwell Tarly in the hit HBO series.

The picture was taken at Buckingham Palace in May 2018. Claire tells us: “It was was my daughter’s Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards ceremony, which took place at Buckingham Palace.

“I was beaming, as I’d met my hero from my favourite TV show.” John, 31, from Manchester, won the part of Samwell Tarly just three months after he graduated from drama school.

His character was a friend of Jon Snow and provided occasional comic relief ! The whole experience was a huge surprise for Claire, who says those receiving Duke of Edinburgh awards knew there would be celebrity ambassadors at the Palace but had no idea who they would be.

She remembers: “Nobody knew who the celebrity ambassadors would be. They all came out and I saw John. “He was a lovely man, we chatted for a bit and my daughter took our photo.”

"He also had an army reunion with the guys he served with after not seeing them for over 30 years."

Pictured is the moment in the studio when Mervyn’s army friends marched on stage for the surprise reunion.
