Residents of Dorchester as well as visitors to the town are being asked for their views on a strategy to promote the area's rich heritage and history.
The Heritage Tourism Strategy was agreed for draft consultation at a town council meeting.
Dorchester benefits from more than 6,000 years of history and is seeing significant investment in heritage assets in the north of the town.
Yet it is felt the town’s visitor offer remains hidden from prospective visitors, and its heritage has not attracted visitors for the economic benefit of the town.
As well as addressing this, the strategy proposes developing new quality visitor experiences, working with attractions and tourism businesses.
Chairman of the Dorchester Joint Heritage Committee Cllr Gareth Jones said: "The strategy has been a long-term ambition of the town council, featuring in its corporate plan since 2015. I would encourage anyone interested in the celebration of Dorchester’s history and heritage to take part in the consultation”
To take part see the strategy and consultation documents on the Heritage Tourism page of the Dorchester Town Council website www.dorchester-tc.gov.uk
