Author Jim Potts has followed up a book of short stories with a book of poetry.
The former British Council worker, who lives in Dorchester, has published Reading the Signs, a collection of 111 poems.
Poetry within the book is inspired by the Dorset countryside and coast. There are also poems that reflect the many countries in which Mr Potts has lived.
He said: "The poems are arranged as a kind of geographical journey. The collection begins and ends with poems updating Greek mythology."
During his time at the British Council Mr Potts worked to further international cultural and educational opportunities.
He began his career in Ethiopia, making television programmes for development purposes and training local staff. Further postings saw him stationed in exotic locations, from Kenya and Czechoslovakia to Greece and Russia, before he returned to London and became editor of the Educating Broadcasting International journal.
Mr Potts says Reading the Signs, which follows on from his book This Spinning World, ends with three poems set in no particular place.
