A police officer was dragged along a road after a car failed to stop.
The Dorset No Excuse team was on patrol checking cars on their database for insurance and tax when the incident occurred.
A spokesman said: "We assisted our road policing colleague after a vehicle failed to stop and dragged him a short distance.
"This investigation is ongoing. A person has been arrested and the officer is OK."
The incident happened on Langley Road in Poole at around 2.40pm on Wednesday, April 29.
Dorset Police said it involved a male police officer who sustained cuts to his right arm in the incident.
A 43-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, assault of an emergency worker, failing to stop for police and for having no insurance and no driving licence.
He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
