A MAGISTRATE who made an “ageist comment” to a colleague has been reprimanded.
David Senior, who hears cases in Dorset, was the subject of a complaint to the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office (JCIO).
Detail of the case has been outlined in a JCIO statement published online.
A spokesman said Lord Chancellor Robert Buckland, and a High Court judge representing Lord Burnett, the Lord Chief Justice, had issued “formal advice” to Mr Senior, who is also a member of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance committee.
“The Lord Chancellor and Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb DBE, on behalf of the Lord Chief Justice, have issued David Senior JP, a magistrate assigned to the Dorset Bench, with a formal advice for an ageist comment he made to a colleague and remarks he made in an email to his bench chairman,” said the spokesman in the statement.
“In reaching their decision, they took into consideration that Mr Senior had expressed regret for his actions.”
