The Met Office has issued a weather warning for heavy rain across Dorset.

The yellow warning, meaning be aware, is in force from 6am today until 3pm tomorrow.

Forecasters say much of the south west, including Dorset, can expect heavy downpours that could lead to flooding.

The Environment Agency has also issued a flood alert for the west Dorset coast for this evening and tomorrow morning.

The organisation says that flooding is expected for roads and farmland, and that there is a chance of flooding in Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Seaton, West Bay, Bothenhampton, Burton Freshwater, Burton Bradstock, Cogdean Beach, Chesil Beach, West Fleet, East Fleet, Chiswell and Portland Harbour.

The Met Office also said that spray and flooding on roads could make journey times longer and bus and train services are likely to be affected.

It said that flooding of a few homes and businesses is also likely.

The warning follows another yellow weather warning that was issued last week.
