Staff at a Weymouth pizza restaurant served up a generous fundraising contribution to help the Dorset Mind mental health charity.

The Stable has been supporting the charity for over three years. During this time, the Dorset-based chain of cider and pizza bars have contributed a whopping £31,705.48 worth of fundraising.

A generous slice of that, worth £10,204, was raised in the last seven months alone, thanks to charity events, charity runs, craft fairs and donations through the tills, among other fundraising drives organised by staff.

According to Dorset Mind, staff at The Stable have seen a noticeable change in attitudes towards mental health at work and have felt the benefit of having fun together during fundraising events.

Ross Duncan, The Stable brand ambassador and former manager of the Weymouth restaurant, said: "Having worked at The Stable for as long as I have, not only have I seen how we can raise money and awareness for Dorset Mind, but also I am able to see how that money is used within the charity.

"Whether it’s been a fundraising event or staff running marathons, we all feel as a team we have been able to play a huge part in raising this amazing sum of money for what is truly is an incredible charity."

According to Dorset Mind, up to a quarter of the population suffer from a diagnosable mental health issue. They aim to support individuals, as well as working to destigmatise mental health issues in the community by challenging inequality and promoting recovery.

Marianne Storey, chief executive of Dorset Mind said: “We are thrilled to have built such a strong relationship with The Stable and their staff.

"The benefits of a long-term partnership enables us to make important plans for our future and ensures that we can continue to offer support to those who need it in Dorset.

"The Stable has been incredibly generous to us in so many ways, from lending us meeting space to fundraising amongst their staff teams. We are so excited to reveal more about our upcoming joint venture, which we’ll be launching very soon.”
