Fans of one of west Dorset’s most popular events will have to wait a while longer before they can enjoy it again.
Buckham Fair will return in 2021, organisers have said.
The annual vintage fair, held in Beaminster and comprising of horse and dog shows as well as food, craft and artisan exhibitors, last took place in 2018 when it marked its 10-year anniversary.
At the time, organisers said that after 10 ‘glorious’ years they had decided to take a break and re-group.
It was to allow the land to recover and to ‘give neighbours and the good people of Beaminster a break from the incredible patience they have shown over the past decade,’ they said at the time.
They've now confirmed it will be back in 2021.
In a statement, organisers said: “Since day one, Buckham Fair has grown into a rich, vibrant event. With the culmination of a fantastic tenth year, we will be bringing Buckham Fair back in 2021with a fresh approach.
“To that end, the committee will be using 2020 to plan for a revised, fresh, exciting event and we look forward to having you join us in Beaminster in 2021 again.
“We are aware there is a website that has published a 2020 Buckham Fair date. This is not correct and has been done without our knowledge and approval.”
To date, Buckham Fair has raised more than £600,000 for local charities and causes. The last event broke all records when it raised a staggering £111k for the Dorset County Hospital Charity Appeal.
Martin Clunes said at the time: “Since starting this event, our intentions have always been to give back to our community, through Buckham Fair, and over the past 10 years, we have, together with the unending support of local businesses, sponsors, volunteers, traders and visitors, been able to do just that.”
