AT St George’s Primary School we celebrate Remembrance Day every year at All Saints Church.
We celebrate and reflect with a Remembrance service located at the church and we also sing songs and read prayers.
At the church, we say poems that all of the children worked hard to create especially for the occasion. Wonderful prayers are also read in between poems, which is our sign of respect to all of the soldiers who passed away fighting in the war. This poem was read out at church:
On the battlefield
The deprived soldiers fought for our lives,
On the battlefield,
Millions of lives were lost,
On the battlefield,
The poppy started to grow,
On the battlefield,
Peace arrived once again
During this service we take part in a two minute silence on the eleventh hour of the day. This is a very important time to remember all the solders that died in the war and fought for our lives and happiness.
At school, we also make poppies and put them on display all over the school to show our appreciation.
