AN application for a two-storey extension to a Poundbury house will not result in an objection by town councillors even though one believes it will look out of place.
The council planning committee decided not to object to the side extension, alongside the three-storey main section of the building at 8 Challacombe Street, together with the demolition of a single storey garden room and a boundary wall.
Cllr Molly Rennie said it appeared to her that the two homes, one three storey and the neighbouring property two storey, had been designed to have the space left between them and it would look odd if it were to be filled in with the flat-roof extension.
But other councillors disagreed.
Cllr Andy Canning, described it as ‘perfectly reasonable’, although he did ask for a restriction on working hours during the building work.
A final decision will be made, at officer level, by Dorset Council.
