A villager who shares tales about the countryside online has won the Countryside Blogger of the Year award.
Becky Wren, 38, was crowned for her blog ‘Country Bumpkin Chic’ in this year's contest which celebrates top-class bloggers in the industry.
Becky, who lives in Charminster near Dorchester, uses her blog, which was launched in 2010, as a place to share tales from the countryside. It was described by judges as having a "superb mix of content and imagery celebrating the countryside".
On the blog you can find stories of cider events, tractor rallies, top places to paddleboard in Dorset and even interviews with musicians such as Seth Lakeman.
Becky said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be crowned Countryside Blogger of the Year 2019 and overwhelmed by the support and love for my blog Country Bumpkin Chic.
"I write to inspire, educate and involve my readers and will use this achievement to celebrate everything there is to love about the beautiful Dorset countryside and continue promoting the country way of life.”
When Becky is not working or blogging, she enjoys riding and competing with her two horses or paddle boarding in the sea in Weymouth. She will put her prize of £250 towards digital training and the latest tech.
Becky will also receive an official trophy as well as ongoing marketing support by contest sponsor Haynet.
In the contest, judges were looking for those who share all aspects of the countryside from food to clothing, through quality blog writing.
Ashley Rossiter, MD of PR agency MirrorMe PR which also sponsors and judged the awards, scrutinised hundreds of blog entries before whittling them down to ten finalists, of which Becky was chosen as number one.
Both judges agreed: “This blog ticked all the boxes with a superb mix of content and imagery celebrating the countryside. A beautifully presented blog, well-written content and easy to navigate with an active and engaging social media presence.”
The judges followed strict criteria to judge the entries which contributed to 50 per cent of the overall consideration.
The other 50 per cent was taken via a public vote where Becky and her blog managed to canvas 33.5% of the final votes through friends, work colleagues from previous roles at New Look HQ in Weymouth and Screwfix HQ in Yeovil, social media channels, as well as followers who showed their support for the blog.
