Dorset Police has received a special thank you in recognition of the role its officers played in responding to the Novichok poisoning attack.
The Chief Constable of Wiltshire Police and Police and Crime Commissioner of Wiltshire and Swindon have sent a certificate of appreciation to Dorset Police to say thank you for assisting Wiltshire Officers in the wake of the Salisbury attack.
The letter thanked the force for delivering support and resilience: "This enabled us to balance two major incidents and continue with business as usual. As a result, we were able to provide high quality reassurance to the public at a time of heightened concern.
"The British Policing Model is the envy of the world and it is during significant incidents such as these, that the brilliance of the wider policing family steps forward to support their colleagues in need.
"We would like to express sincere appreciation to the officers and staff of Dorset Police for the outstanding and professional support they provided to Wiltshire during extremely challenging and unprecedented times."
Dorset Police's Chief Constable James Vaughan said: "The incidents seen in Salisbury and Amesbury were extraordinary, requiring a national approach.
"The response demonstrated policing at its best and as a neighbouring force I was more than happy to help.
"As members of the police family we recognise that this support is something we can all rely on during times of exceptional demand and challenges.
"I am grateful for the appreciation shown by Wiltshire Police and their Police and Crime Commissioner and would also like to thank those officers who worked through days off and travelled to assist, not forgetting those who remained behind to deal with business as usual."
