A BARREL of fun is to be had at a fundraising beer festival at Wyke Regis this weekend.
Now in its fifth year, Wykefest is being held at the Wyke Smugglers pub. Proceeds will be split between three charities – The Veterans Hub, Friends of M.V. Freedom and C'Ciders Cancer Support Group.
It takes place on Friday from 5-11pm, Saturday from 12pm-11pm and Sunday from 12pm - 6pm.
On the Friday night there will be rock 'n' roll-themed music and on Saturday there will be live music from a band, Room 13.
The festival was originally an outdoor event, founded by CAMRA, and is now held at the Smugglers. This year there will be 22 real ales and 22 traditional ciders, including a Purbeck cider infused with cucumber and mint.
The theme for this year's real ales is 'friends and family' - featuring brewers that are new to area, plus traditional ales. Cerne Abbas Brewery has produced a one-off brew for the event, an elderflower beer called Molly Smith's, plus its 'Gurt Coconut and Rum Stout'
Businesses can sponsor a barrel of beer or box of cider - sponsors will be invited to a VIP evening on Thursday, August 1. To enquire call 01305 760010 or visit the Wyke Smugglers on Portland Road.
