A PRIZE of £1,000 is up for grabs for residents who register digitally for the electoral roll.
Household enquiry forms for the electoral register are coming through letterboxes in Dorset soon, according to Dorset Council – and people are legally required to reply.
The forms are being posted to all residential properties in the area. Residents are being asked to look out for an envelope addressed ‘To the occupier’.
The form shows who is currently registered to vote at the address and asks residents to check if details are correct.
People are being asked to respond online, by text or phone by August 12 to be entered into the £1,000 prize draw.
Digital registrations cost around 20 pence per elector to process, compared to paper forms, which cost more than ten times as much – approximately £2.50.
Matt Prosser, chief executive of Dorset Council, said: “Please keep an eye out for the household enquiry form coming through your letterbox soon.
“We need you to respond so that we know who can register to vote.
“By responding as quickly as possible via digital methods you will be helping us reduce the costs linked to gathering and processing this information.”
