A MAN has died after being hit by a train at Bournemouth station.

Railway lines were blocked between Poole and Brockenhurst last night while emergency services dealt with the incident.

The lines later re-opened.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police and Dorset Police were called to Bournemouth rail station shortly before 6pm following reports of a person being struck by a train.

"Colleagues from the ambulance service also attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.  This incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for a coroner."

Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to the scene, and no one was allowed inside Bournemouth station while the incident was being dealt with.
