Five celebrities were seen camping in Dorset on TV last night when the new series of a popular Channel 5 show aired.
Celebrity 5 Go Camping sees former Eastenders stars Michelle Collins and Joe Swash joined by comedians Bobby Davro and Stephen Bailey along with Bucks Fizz singer Cheryl Baker.
In the latest series of the show, the five are tasked with giving up their comfy beds and flatscreen TVs for three weeks to embrace the great outdoors with filming taking place at Burnbake Forest Lodges and Campsite near Corfe Castle.
The first show in the five-part series sees Michelle and Joe meet Bobby and Stephen for breakfast at a hotel overlooking Poole Harbour laden with backpacks ready for their camping adventure.
With only an X on the map, the celebrities had to find their way to the first campsite.
After getting lost on the Isle of Purbeck, the four met up with a bushcraft instructor who showed them basic survival skills including how to make shelters from sticks and bracken, and make fire by rubbing sticks together.
After failing to make either one, the celebrities spent their first night under canvas in some nearby wigwams.
During the show, Bobby is celebrating his 60th birthday and his fellow campers want to make him breakfast to celebrate but are unfortunately foiled by the lack of an electric kettle or room service.
After a day spent getting wet and muddy at a water park, the celebrities treat Bobby to a birthday dinner and a hot shower in one of Burnbake’s luxury forest lodges, where they are finally joined by Cheryl Baker.
The show continues next Friday featuring more footage from Purbeck.
Speaking last year, Cheryl Baker said: “It’s such a beautiful place. I have had so much fun with these guys and seeing Corfe Castle up on the hill was amazing.”
Burnbake’s general manager, Chris Wyburgh, said the celebrities had been “good sports” during filming.
