TAKING on Great Britain's three highest peaks in just 24 hours is no small feat for anyone - let alone a 12-year-old.
But that is exactly what Budmouth Year 7 pupil Benjamin Moore is doing - scaling Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon within 24 hours.
"He's always been an outdoor-type of boy," his mother, Sarah, told the Echo. "So he wanted to do this challenge."
Benjamin's grandmother recently underwent a fight against cancer, and was treated at Dorset County Hospital. To show his gratitude to the centre, he is aiming to raise at least £1000 for the DCH cancel appeal charity.
Taking on the three peaks with a group of nine others - including his mother - Benjamin will start the challenge at 8.30 am on Saturday, September 22, at Ben Nevis in Scotland; he hopes to have scaled that peak, plus Scafell Pike in England's Lake District and Mount Snowdon in Wales, within 24 hours of that point.
Benjamin said he was 'excited' for the challenge and 'a bit nervous of climbing Snowdon at 3.30 am in the dark'.
To prepare for the challenge, he said, he is going to go on long walks through the summer and also going to the gym.
"The toughest part of the challenge will be when he has to make the ascent up Snowdon at 3.30 am, having already climbed Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike and travelled 460 miles by minibus," Sarah explained.
