ONE of Weymouth's biggest employers has appointed a new board.
FGP Systems LTD, a precision aerospace manufacturer which is based on the Granby Industrial Estate, has transitioned away from the team that led the firm’s initial recovery from administration three years ago.
The new board consists of both FGP senior management and investor representatives and includes Nigel Pitman, Hayley Bell, Alexander Dunn, David Taylor, Paul Clark, Daniel Kalms and Simon Griffiths Hughes.
The change has been deemed a deliberate move to formalise the relationship between FGP management and its investors, who have stood by the firm since rescuing it from administration three years ago.
Nigel Pitman, Managing Director of FGP said: “We continue to see a number of exciting opportunities in the aerospace sector to grow our business, and being able to communicate directly with investors will enable us to be more proactive in acting on these.”
FGP is continuing to grow since its change of ownership in 2015, and these changes ensure direct involvement in the growth from the investor base.
In the last year the firm has seen tremendous growth, with turnover increased from £9.5m to £10.8m on the back of a number of strong long-term aerospace contracts.
It now boasts a staff headcount of 120, up from 98 pre-administration.
The FGP apprentice school continues to be a cornerstone of the company’s future planning with five new apprentices inducted this month taking the total to 16.
Hayley Bell, Personal Development and HSE Director of FGP said: “Our people are our future at FGP, and the ability to bring in local talent on four-year apprenticeships to learn directly on our machines and transition seamlessly into the workforce gives us a real competitive advantage. This enables FGP to support an ever-growing customer order-book.”
FGP offers high end engineered and manufactured solutions for hte aerospace industry encompassing both civil and military applications. Its customer base consists of some of the largest aircraft and aircraft parts manufacturers in the world.
The business uses the latest and most advanced technology to deliver innovative and high quality solutions to its customers.
