A group of jet skiers spotted a large pod of dolphins of all ages while out on a trip along the coast.
Dan Bell, owner of Jurassic Jet Ski Tours, was on the water with some friends when they sighted the pod off Portland Bill.
He said: “We were on our way back and my friend pointed out to me the massive dorsal fins in front of us. They were playing among the waves of the big boats and when we went away they followed us for a bit.”
Mr Bell reckoned there were about 15 to 20 of them in total, with a mix of adult dolphins and juvenile dolphins, with the juvenile dolphins proving the most playful in the water, jumping out of the water and swimming alongside the jet skis.
The jet skier said that it is around this time of year that the waters in the area are at their warmest, meaning that there are likely to be further sightings of them.
It is the third time Mr Bell has spotted the marine mammals while out on the water along Dorset this year. Before that, he had never encountered any during his 17 years of jet skiing.
