TRAVEL back to the swinging sixties at a Bridport film festival.
Following the success of last year's From Page to Screen festival, Bridport Film Society has again been invited to curate the 11am film screenings at the Bridport Arts Centre. The UK's only film festival dedicated to the adaptation of books into films will be held in Bridport from Wednesday, April 19, to Sunday, April 23.
This year the Society has taken the 60's as their theme and the films, selected by the entire membership, represent that decade in “all its glorious, heady exuberance.”
The screenings will include In The Heat Of the Night with Sidney Poitier, Night of the Iguana, Up the Junction, The Fireman's Ball and Jean-Luc Godard’s Le Mepris, with the iconic Brigitte Bardot.
Chris Pike, Chairman of the Film Society said: “It is such a treat to be able to immerse ourselves in five brilliant films of that joyously alive explosion of creativity that was the sixties.”
The sixties theme continues on Sunday afternoon with The Knack … and How to Get It, which is said to have inspired aspects of the Austin Powers movies. Anne Jellicoe, on whose play the film is based, will be guest speaker at that screening.
Bridport Arts Centre cafe will also be serving breakfast on the go to film fans with a range of special offers throughout the week.
