MEMBERS of the public are being sought to ride a bike for charity.
Dorset Blind Association is looking for riders to feature on the front of tandem bicycles to enable the association's blind members to take part in the Rotary Dorset Bike Ride.
The charity event will take part on Sunday, September 18, starting at Longthorn Campsite.
Dorset Blind Association provides various activities for people with sight loss.
Visually-impaired people and fundraisers are being encouraged to take on the challenge.
Riders will travel along a 55-mile circular route through the Dorset Jurassic Coastline.
Dorset Blind Association offers various activities, from skydiving to kayaking.
The charity aims to encourage members to try new things, to raise their confidence levels and help them move forward with other aspects of their lives.
Funds raised from the event will help finance physical activities to support blind and partially sighted people live more active lives.
Mark Noble is one of the charity's trustees and is also visually impaired.
He said: "I'm looking forward to what promises to be a fun challenge and especially to that hard earned pint after 55 miles.
"It's great to be helping Dorset Blind Association especially. Like my tandem wing-man on the day, their support is vital in steering people in the right direction when they most need it.”
Tom, 25, from Poole, said: "I really want to do this ride but because of my vision I need a tandem pilot; the bike is gathering dust in my garage."
Barbara, 65, is also looking for a tandem pilot. She said: "It's just nice to get out and be active, and to have a good old natter."
Helena Sinclair, a fundraiser at Dorset Blind Association said: "It is such a great feeling when you organise an event that visually impaired people (VIPs) want to get involved with. "Our VIPs love a good challenge and never let sight loss get in the way of it.”
