WEARING white on your wedding day is supposed to be something of an indispensable tradition.
But it’s a tradition one Dorset bride chose to throw out the window as she strolled down the aisle in her Asda work clothes.
Richard and Jane Till both work at the Asda in Gillingham where they met.
When the pair tied the knot, in front of many colleagues at the Gillingham Town Hall, they wore their ‘happy to help’ Asda uniforms.
They married earlier than planned as Mrs Till is suffering from cancer and they thought there is 'no time like the present'.
The new bride Mrs Till, 48, said: “Our family, friends and most of the colleagues at the store came to the wedding; it was a perfect day.
“We must thank our colleague Helen, who was a witness at our wedding, for introducing me to Richard, if it wasn’t for her this wedding wouldn’t have happened.”
Jane started work at Asda Gillingham in January 2014, where Richard, 47, trained her on the tills.
The pair began seeing each other in May of that year.
Mrs Till added: “When Richard proposed to me on New Year’s Eve, I made him ask me five times because I couldn’t believe he was asking me – I thought I was the luckiest lady in the world.
“We planned to get married in June but after finding out I had ovarian cancer, we thought there is no time like the present so decided to bring the date forward.”
The newlyweds returned to work the week after their honeymoon, with Jane beginning a new role working in the store office.
