THERE'LL be no tears when a new wave band choose Dorset's Camp Bestival for their first festival appearance in 26 years.
The Sunday headliners for next year's family extravaganza can be revealed today as Tears for Fears.
With superstar DJ Fatboy Slim and chart-topping singer Jess Glynne already announced as the Friday and Saturday night headliners, everyone can feel the excitement rising.
Organisers of the quirky festival, held in the grounds of Lulworth Castle, are planning an 'outer space' theme for the ninth Camp Bestival and say the first lot of acts are 'out of this world'.
Tickets are now on sale for the event, which runs from July 28-31.
Also appearing will be festival favourites and popular double act Dick and Dom, CBeebies comic clown Mr Tumble, and an acclaimed adaptation of smash hit children’s book, Aliens Love Underpants.
Festival founder, the DJ Rob da Bank, said: “Songs from the Big Chair was, and still is, one of my most treasured albums, and one which appears totally timeless. I still can't figure out what most of the lyrics mean, but when the music and vocals are so strong it doesn't matter. We took our kids on holiday last year and only had two CDs in the car, one of them was this and they cannot get enough of it, so, I know after five years of trying, Tears for Fears are going to be something very special at Camp Bestival for all ages.”
From their breakthrough smash, Mad World and the all-conquering Songs from the Big Chair that gave us Shout and Everybody Wants to Rule the World, to the psychedelic pop of The Seeds of Love, Everybody Loves a Happy Ending and beyond, organisers say Tears For Fears’ Sunday night headline set is a solid gold promise of universal sing-along joy that can’t be missed.
The band said: "We are so looking forward to playing our first UK festival since our last one in 1990 at Knebworth. I know we're not the most prolific artists but we believe in quality over quantity. We're looking forward to performing new and old songs as we will have finished our new album before we perform. The fact that it's in the West Country where we began our journey makes it all the more gratifying. We look forward to seeing you at Camp Bestival."
More action and entertainment will be announced over the coming months but visitors can expect the usual zany mix of workshops, poetry, play areas, discos, theatre, circus and films They'll be plenty of cosmic goings-on in 2016 too in line with the space theme with planetarium shows, flying astronauts, planet building, stargazing, space murals and explorer domes.
Camp Bestival 2016 weekend tickets are on sale via Ticketline on 0844 888 4410.
