Once again the real criminals (motorists) have been targeted by the so-called safety cameras, with around 700 vehicles receiving fines totalling over £40,000 and drivers receiving a bag load of points.
But maybe all is not lost! Perhaps this extra revenue will go towards a real policeman on the street to catch thieves, maybe investigate a robbery, or a traffic cop to catch drivers who are drunk, uninsured or unlicensed.
Maybe the poor condition of the roads in Portland and Weymouth (too many to list) which damage the vehicles driving on them could be resurfaced!
Sadly the reality is it will probably help to fill a black hole in the some budget somewhere.
Perhaps if the revenue were put back to benefit the motorist in some way this bitter pill would taste slightly sweeter.
