A MAN's body has been found in the Newtons Cove area in Weymouth.
Police were called to a concern for welfare of a 31-year-old man in the area on Saturday morning just after 6am.
Upon arrival police located a body but found the male was deceased.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "At 6.14am on Saturday, October 17 Dorset Police received a phone call regarding a concern for welfare of a 31-year-old male local to Weymouth.
"After an initial search the male was found deceased at the harbourside near to the Nothe, Weymouth, at about 7.07am.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious."
An onlooker told the Echo he saw one police car nearby and that police remained in the Newtons Cove area until 9.30am.
He said: "There was one copper by the compass platform down the bottom telling people to go up the steps."
The onlooker, who wished to remain anonymous, said the body was covered and taken away on a stretcher.
Another witness also described being turned away by police from the area at around 8.30am on Saturday morning.
