FIREFIGHTERS extinguished a car ablaze in Weymouth this afternoon.
It is believed an overheated engine led to the fire in the BMW about 1.45pm.
Firecrews were on scene quickly and extinguished the fire in the engine.
The driver was unharmed.
A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: "At just before 2pm this afternoon a crew from Weymouth were alerted to a report of a vehicle fire on Preston Road, Weymouth.
"Crews were on scene within eight minutes and it was ascertained to be a private vehicle alight on the highway which was extinguished using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.
"There was severe fire damage to the engine compartment of the vehicle."
