Weymouth Moose Ladies Circle has just had its Annual Cheque Presentation to Local Causes. As well as donating to such worthy causes as RNLI, Dorset Association for the Blind and Weldmar, amongst others, we decided to make a slight departure and help a local boy realise his dream.
Thomas Carney, who is 13yrs old has been a dedicated Taekwondo enthusiast since he was 4yrs old and has won many competitions. He spends many hours a week practising his art and travels many miles to take part in competitions. We donated £200 towards his travel costs for a recent competition, and I am thrilled that he won 2 Gold Medals.
Obviously he has his heart set on the Olympics, which would not only be a success for him but also for Weymouth.
Unfortunately, because of his age, he does not qualify for a grant to help with costs. If anyone would like to sponsor or help him realise his dream, please get in touch with me direct or through the Echo.
We could have another "Success" on our hands
