MANY women dream of getting a proposal from a film star...
But the dream came true for stunned Tina Kilford when boyfriend Tom Lane popped the big question on the big screen.
Weymouth youth worker Tom filmed an elaborate proposal using giant signs to get his message across.
And cinema staff agreed to screen the home movie to a surprised audience - including Tina - who were expecting to see the film School For Scoundrels. Tina, 36, said: "I thought I was going to watch a film with a couple of friends.
"We got to the cinema and I was sitting there with a tub of ice cream, watching the trailers, when I saw Tom on the screen, standing in our lounge, wearing a dinner jacket and holding a card saying 'Hi Tina!'"
Tina's friends were in on the act. She said: "I put my ice cream down and I think I said 'Oh my God' about 10 times."
Tom, 39, who works at Steps Club for Young People in Chickerell Road, delivered his message using a series of cards and funny pictures, while Joe Cocker's song You Are So Beautiful played in the background.
Tina said: "I was just in shock. His final card said, 'I'm right behind you.' I turned round and he was walking down the steps from the back of the cinema and got down on one knee and brought a ring out of his pocket."
Stunned Tina said 'yes' as the audience at the cinema burst into applause.
The couple, who live in Wyke Regis, have been together for five years and Tom spent the last six weeks working on the proposal.
Cineworld staff set up the film, ushered Tom into the cinema through a fire door and hid him at the back until his big moment.
Tom said: "It was like a military operation.
"I'm a ridiculous romantic, but I wasn't 100 per cent sure she'd like it. Tina is my whole world. She's the most wonderful, kind and funny person I've ever known. I'm the luckiest man in the world."
