A MAN has died after collapsing on the coastal path along Lyme Regis Undercliff.
Lyme Regis lifeboat crew were called to the incident, which occurred on the path near the old pumping station.
The incident occurred just over the Devon border.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "At 2.30pm on Friday we were called to Rousdon, Lyme Regis to reports of a body found on the coastal path.
"Police officers attended along with other emergency services.
"CPR was performed but the man, in his 60s and from Somerset, sadly died a short time later.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed."
In a statement, Lyme Regis RNLI press officer Richard Horobin said: "Lyme Regis RNLI lifeboat was launched on Friday after a report of a body on the beach at Charton Bay, west of the town.
"It was later established that a body had been found on cliffs above the bay.
"The lifeboat landed two crew members to assist coastguards ashore.
"The lifeboat, which launched at 2.37pm, stood by, and finally returned to Lyme Regis Harbour at 4.20pm."
Beer Coastguard, which was also called to the scene, said 11 coastguards, five police officers, seven ambulance personnel, Lyme Lifeboat and the coastguard rescue helicopter attended the incident.
A spokesperson for Beer Coastguard said on Friday: "The full team were paged along with Devon and Cornwall Police to a report of a person collapsed on the coastal path near the old pumping station in Rousdon landslip.
"We arrived on scene to find police giving CPR to a man who had been found unconscious and not breathing beside the path.
"We assisted the police and paramedic in giving CPR until the Hazardous Area Response Team arrived to carry on with the resuscitation attempts.
"Despite everybody's best efforts the casualty could not be resuscitated. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time."
