A BODY found on a Dorset beach this morning has been identified as that of missing Sandy Glyn, 62.

She left the family home in Bournemouth on Monday evening and the alarm was raised.

Sandy was last seen driving away in her blue Hyundai I10 car. The vehicle was found parked on Southbourne Overcliff Drive just before 8pm on Monday night.

Police were alerted to the discovery of a body at Mudeford Beach this morning by a member of the public.

Next of kin have been informed.

There are no suspicious circumstances.

Three police cars, an ambulance and the coastguard were called to the scene at Gundimore promenade.

The beach and the pedestrian walkway were closed.

A white screen was erected by officers.

Windsurfers who had arrived at the beach around 6.30am said the police arrived at the scene at 8am.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 7.50am this morning, Friday February 20, to a report of a woman's body on Mudeford Beach, Christchurch.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been notified.

"The body has now been identified as that of missing 62-year-old Bournemouth woman Sandy Glyn. Her family have been informed."
