A WEYMOUTH family have welcomed a new addition to their brood with the arrival of their granddaughter.
Pam and Phil Edge, from Sutton Poyntz, said their son Paul Edge and daughter-in-law Federica welcomed baby Sofia on December 19.
Sofia was born in Brighton at 1.23pm weighing 7lbs, and is the couple’s first child.
Pam said both mum and baby are doing well and Federica and Paul are enjoying their new roles as parents.
Sofia is the second granddaughter of the Edge family and Pam said: “We think she is beautiful and wish we lived nearer so that we could see more of her.
“Federica and Paul say Sofia is very good, but joked that it will be even better when she realises that the rest of the family sleeps at night, and not during the day.”
Pam said that Sofia’s other grandparents Renato and Mariarosa Sporeni came over from Milan in Italy with immediate family, so they could meet the new arrival.
She added: “Paul and Federica are looking forward to taking Sofia to Italy soon to meet all of her Italian relations. Sofia is already hearing Italian at home so that she will be able to speak both languages.”
