THE A354 in Blandford Forum has been reopened after two car crashes earlier today.

The road was closed by Dorset Police between Winterbourne Whitechurch and the roundabout with the junction of the A350.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on the A354 between the Little Drove junction and the A350 junction just after 9.30am this morning after two cars collided with each other.

The accident involved a white Vauxhall Meriva van registered to a company in Darlington and a silver Peugeot 4007 registered to a woman from Wareham.

Ambulance and firefighters are now on their way to the scene, and a spokesman for Dorset Police said at least one person would have to be removed from the car by the firefighters.

It is not known how bad the injuries are, but the scene has been cleared by recovery services.

Another accident occurred at Thornicombe at 9.56am on the same stretch of road involving two vehicles.

A green Volvo S40 registered to a man from Bournemouth and a red Toyota Yaris registered to a woman from Dorchester.

The male driver of the Volvo was taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries. The woman driving the Yaris was not thought to be injured.

Firefighters removed the roof from one vehicle in order to gain access to the casualty.
